This is a velvet cloth bag. It is used in rosary chanting. It looks like a "cow's mouth" hence it is called Gomukhi Jaap Mala Bag. Some rules of chanting rosary -

The person who is chanting with the garland and someone's eyes fall on him, then the person chanting the garland does not get the full fruit. That's why whenever someone chants any mantra or garland, he must use cow face Bag.

The hand and the rosary of the one who chants the rosary in Gomukhi Bag remain inside the Gomukhi Bag and no one's eyes fall on the hand or the rosary in any way.

One more thing to be kept in mind is that while chanting the rosary, the index finger of the hand should not touch the rosary, it is not considered good, so that finger automatically remains outside in Gomukhi.

The thumb and the middle finger are always used in rosary chanting.

यह एक मखमली कपड़े का थैला है| इसका प्रयोग माला जाप में किया जाता है| यह "गाय के मुँह" जैसा दिखता है इसलिए इसे गोमुखी जाप माला थैला कहा जाता है| माला जाप करने के कुछ नियम - 

जो व्यक्ति माला से जाप कर रहा है और किसी की उस पर नज़र पड जाये तो माला जपने वाले को पूर्ण फल प्राप्त नहीं होता है। इसलिए जब भी कोई मंत्र या माला कोई जपता है तो उसे गोमुखी का प्रयोग अवश्य करना चाहिए। 

गोमुखी में माला जपने वाले का हाथ तथा माला गोमुखी के अंदर रहती है तथा किसी की नज़र किसी भी प्रकार से हाथ या माला पर नहीं पड़ती है|

एक और बात का ध्यान रखने वाली यह है की माला जपते वक्त हाथ की तर्जनी अंगुली माला से स्पर्श नही होनी चाहिए ऐसा अच्छा नहीं माना जाता है इसलिए गोमुखी में वह अंगुली स्वतः ही बाहर रहती है। 

माला जाप में सदैव अंगूठे और मध्यमा अंगुली का प्रयोग किया जाता है|
