शंख की गिनती समुद्र मंथन से निकले 14 रत्नों में होती है.इसे माता लक्ष्मी का भाई कहा जाता है इस शंख को विजय, समृद्धि, सुख-वैभव, शांति, यश-कीर्ति का प्रतिक माना जाता हैं| नियमित रूप से अगर घर में शंख बजाया जाए तो इससे नकारात्मकता दूर होती है| गृह क्लेश मिटता है और सुख शांति बनी रहती है| एक बात का विशेष ध्यान रखे की अगर आप शंख को पूजा के लिए इस्तेमाल कर रहे है तो उसे भूलकर भी न बजाएं,क्योंकि इससे आपके कष्टकारी परिणाम देखने पड़ सकते हैं. घर में हमेशा दो शंख होने चाहिए, एक शंख से भगवान की पूजा, उनका अभिषेक किया जाता है और दूसरे को बजाया जाता है| पूजा में इस्तेमाल किए जाने वाले शंख को हमेशा पानी भरकर रखना चाहिए| पूजा के बाद इस पानी का छिड़काव घर में और घर के सदस्यों पर करने से तमाम समस्याएं दूर होती हैं. जिस शंख को बजाते हैं, उसे एक सफेद वस्त्र में लपेटकर पूजा के आसपास किसी स्थान पर रख सकते हैं. बजाने से पहले और बजाने के बाद शंख को गंगाजल से साफ करना चाहिए, इससे पवित्रा बनी रहती है|

रोजाना शंख बजाना सेहत के लिए फायदेमंद होता है। शंख बजाने से हमारे फेफड़े मजबूत होते हैं और सांस लेने की समस्या दूर होती है। शंख में शुद्ध जल भरकर सुबह उसका जल पिने से भी कई फायेदे होते है शंख में कैल्शियम, फास्फोरस और सल्फर के गुण होते हैं। इसका जल पिने से हड्डियां मजबूत होती हैं और दांत भी स्वस्थ रहते हैं और इससे कई रोग दूर हो जाते है|
