The description of the Shri Yantra is found in ancient Vedic texts. In particular, it is mentioned in the Shri Sukta of the Rigveda, which is a hymn dedicated to Goddess Mahalakshmi. The construction of the Shri Yantra is based on specific proportional rules. It should be made using measurements that are divisible by 3. This rule also applies to the Bhuprisht (flat) Yantra — its shape and dimensions must follow multiples or divisions of 3 to ensure proper energy balance within the Yantra.
